Singing

Erik Jönsson is a Brooklyn-based baritone vocalist who began singing at a young age in his church’s choir in New York’s Hudson Valley. Decades later, he is still singing in church as a member of Trinity Church Wall Street’s semi-professional choir, Downtown Voices, with whom he has sung at Carnegie Hall with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as part of the Mark Morris Dance Group’s production of L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato, and Madison Square Garden in concert with Andrea Bocelli.

Able to interpret a variety of music styles, Erik has also sung as a chorus member with Takht al-Nagham, the performing ensemble of the Syrian Music Preservation Initiative, in performances at Roulette and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.

Upcoming highlights in the 2024–25 season include performances of Verdi’s Requiem and the world premiere of Stephen Main’s The Image in June, both at Trinity Church.
